Mixed Meeting

On Wednesday the 28th of May at St Austell Golf Club in beautiful conditions albeit a little windy 32 players of the CSGA played in the annual mixed competition for the HILDA WILLIAMS Trophy.

The course looked in fabulous condition and although I (the Secretary)  was administrating all day the comments from the players backed up my initial thoughts.

Playing a greensome off the ladies scorecard was going to favour the steady golfers today. This was proven to be the case with the first two winners scoring on every hole. The third place was decided on a countback and again it was consistency that proved decisive. The results were as follows:-

There were two 2s:-, Simon Waddington and his partner Helen Wormald and Alan Pengelly and his partner Sue Dicker.
Nearest the pin on hole 16 was won by Ian Coutts.

In third place today on countback were Richard Webb and Julie Green with 42pts.
Second with a great score of 43pts were Phil Benton and Dee Shorney.

Today’s winners of the Hilda Williams Salver with a fabulous score of 44pts were Simon Waddington and Helen Wormald (pictured).

The next event is at Falmouth Golf Club on the 12 June book and pay via the web site www.csga.co.uk

County Match v Devon – 1st Leg

On Monday 19th May 2025 the first leg of our inter-county match took place at Teignmouth Golf Club in beautiful weather conditions.
None of our team had ever played Teignmouth before and the course was in superb condition being quite baked after two weeks of dry weather. The greens were as fast as we have played on all season.  This was going to be a very tough match.

However the first two matches went the way of Cornwall before Devon fought back.
Cornwall took the lead again 4 to 3, but the final match was won by Devon so the first leg finished level at 4-4.  All to play for in the return match at China Fleet.

CORNWALL WINNERS

RTZ & Alan Price.
Brian Pound & Mike Page
Clive Hawke & Chris Stark
Richard Webb & Ed Rowe won

County Matches

The annual county matches against Devon take place on
Wednesday 9 July @ChinaFleet
Monday 19 May @Teignmouth

Anyone wishing to be considered for selection for either or both matches is asked to give their name to the Secretary.

WHS Update

WHS have made changes to the Handicapping system by adding (Course Rating – Course Par) to the current Course Handicap!
This change will affect lower handicap golfers more than higher ones.
It is now possible to submit a 4BBB score for handicap under certain conditions.
There is also a change to the score recorded for a hole not played.

The details can be found by clicking this link – WHS Changes
